Changing lives—one hero, one heartbeat, one wagging tail at a time

Gerald and Charlene aren’t just local business owners—they’re the kind of people who pour their whole hearts into their community. Gerald grew up watching his late father serve our country with honor, and now their son Logan carries that same legacy in the Air Force. Supporting our troops isn’t just something they talk about—it’s part of who they are.

And then there’s Charlene. Around here, she’s not just the “Rescue Queen”—she’s the woman who somehow manages to be everywhere, helping everyone, all at once. Logan from WINK 96.9 FM calls her the “fairy godmother” of every stray, lost cause, and last-minute plea for help—and honestly, he’s not wrong. If there’s an animal in need, Charlene is already halfway out the door before anyone even finishes the sentence.

She supports incredible organizations like Pets for Vets and Wolfhound Legacies, and this year, she jumped in to help Jason Jones from 92.5 Fox News with his “10,000 Holiday Cards for Troops” project—because if it lifts someone’s spirit, she’s in. She’s covered vet bills for rescue shelters, teamed up with Logan and Sadie from WINK FM for charity dog wash events, and never once hesitated to get her hands dirty if it means helping someone who can’t help themselves.

To Charlene, no veteran should feel forgotten, and no animal should ever feel unwanted. And if she had it her way? Every single one of them would have a safe place to land.

Her compassion. Her grit. Her heart. These are the things that make Charlene—and Gerald—not just community supporters… but quiet, everyday heroes to the people (and pets) whose lives they touch.
